1) Where do I buy an SD Card?
|
| |
There are numerous places to buy a Secure Digital or
SD Card. Walmart, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples,
Circuit City, Best Buy, Kmart, Sears, Radio Shack; just
about any place that sells consumer electronics or more
specifically digital cameras.

2) What size SD Card should I buy?
|
| |
SD cards are memory cards that do nothing but store
information in the form of digital files. The higher
the megapixel camera, the larger the file size and consequently,
the fewer number of pictures (or files) you can store
on an SD card. SD cards come in the following megabyte
sizes: 8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 and 2 gigabyte size.
Most people will opt for a 256MB or 512MB SD card as
they allow for more pictures to be stored on the card,
especially handy if you are on vacation and do not have
access to a computer to download your pictures and do
not want to invest in two or more SD cards. EX: A 5.0MP
camera will allow approximately (varies from camera
to camera and brand to brand, not to mention the file
format, TIFF, JPEG, Bitmap etc) 64 pictures on a 128MB
SD Card, 128 pictures on a 256MB SD Card and 256 pictures
on a 512MB SD Card. Brand of the card does not make
any difference. As with anything you purchase, try it
out and make sure it works first before attempting to
photograph any really important upcoming event or before
going on vacation.

3) How do I transfer pictures on my digital camera
to my computer?
|
| |
AFTER INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE FIRST, WITHOUT THE CAMERA
BEING CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER, DOTHE FOLLOWING: 1.
Turn on the Camera, and change it o "Playback" mode.
2. Connect the camera with computer using USB port.
3. The LCD display of the camera turns off automatically,
and the computer said " that a new hardware attached
would be detected". 4. Go to "My Computer", and you
can find a new drive saying "Removable disk". Double
click it and you can find your pictures and videos inside
the folder. Just copy them to your computer's hard disk.
This procedure is slightly different for each digital
camera model. You will need to refer to your instruction
manual (Included on the CD-Rom that came with your camera)
for exact instructions on how to properly install your
camera and download your pictures. The main thing is
to first install all of the software on the included
CD-Rom disc to your computer BEFORE CONNECTING THE DIGITAL
CAMERA TO THE COMPUTER. If you do not do this, Windows
will put in its own driver and it is virtually impossible
on some computers to get this driver out of Windows
and install the proper one. However, if you do find
yourself in this position. You can TRY the following.
First unhook the camera from the computer, go to: Start
/ Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs. Next, look for
all of the DIGITAL CAMERA software listed under the
"Installed Software List" and uninstall that software.
This is the same software you HAD installed after hooking
up the camera to the computer. Once you have uninstalled
ALL OF THE CAMERA software, reboot the computer, then
re-install the software WITHOUT the camera connected
to the computer. If this works, great! if not it is
because Windows refuses to accept the new digital camera
driver or Mass Media Driver needed and short of reinstalling
the Windows software there is very little you can to
do to make it work other than by purchasing a different
model digital camera and installing the software FIRST
before attaching the camera to the computer. If you
think this is just a Cobra Digital problem, do a search
on the internet. It occurs with almost all brands of
digital cameras on the market, usually the ones that
use proprietary drivers instead of mass media drivers.

4) Why is my picture blurry?
|
| |
When you are taking pictures very close to you, (usually
less than three feet), you have to use the MACRO mode
setting (the button with a flower on it). When you are
taking pictures further than 3 feet, you have to use
the NORMAL mode (the button with one or two people)
and for scenic shots, use the mountain icon setting.
The exact settings depend on your specific camera (check
your instruction manual for exact distances. INSTRUCTION
MANUAL IS ON CD-ROM that came with your camera.

5) Do Cobra Digital cameras work with Windows Vista?
|
| |
Most of the Cobra Digital cameras were developed before the advent of Windows VISTA in about May of 2007, and they were specified to work with Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, the following model cameras have been found to work with Windows VISTA.
DC325
The following procedure was used to make the DC325, connected to a HP computer, work with VISTA:
- Open HP Total Care Advisor
- Click on "Using Windows Vista"
- Click on "Start the program compatibility wizard"
- Open the Wizard
- Choose the program from a list or manually choose it using the "Browse" feature.
- On my computer the program is labeled "MyDSC2\MyDSC2.lnk"
- Choose the option "Windows 98"
- Choose "Disable desktop composition"
- Choose "Run as administrator"
- Run test, then when it works, close the program being tested.
The DC5500, DC6550, and DVC3100 cameras have been found to work with VISTA just by loading the installation disk and connecting the camera to a USB port.
The model DC8000 camera is compatible with VISTA since it was developed after VISTA was in use for some time.
